Scotch Lake Farm Header

Store Hours Scotch Lake Farm is mainly a natural honeybee Apiary. Our farm/apiary lies along a ridge of the Barrichois Hills between Leitches Creek and George's River near North Sydney in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. There are many changes happening at our farm this year.

Our farm has small orchards of peach, pear, plum, cherry and a vast assortment of heritage apple trees. We grow some highbush and low bush bluberries, black currants, have an abundance of blackberries and grow some raspberries as well. As a hobby, we grow other trees offered for sale periodically such as Oak, Maple and Black Locust. Mostly, we collect and sell honey from our hives and our farm is covered with fruit & wildflowers to benefit the bees.

Our products, along with hand-made macrame plant hangers and small beeswax gift candles & tealights are sold on Saturdays at Cape Breton Farmers' Market in Sydney, Nova Scotia year-round. We do sell from our small farm store located at the farm upon request for the time being.

We presently house Nova Scotia's only Small Farm Non-grape Winery, Midgard Meadery. The page you were trying to reach may have redirected here to Scotch Lake Farm. This is due to the fact that the meadery portion of the farm will be closing at the end of 2022. With much saddness, COVID shut downs and cost of living hikes makes the meadery no longer feasible. We thank you for your support and hope you will understand.

Please visit thebeekeeper.ca, our sister site for information on honey bees swarms, other bees and wasps. For our facebook page @ScotchLakeFarm and information on Meadery products @MidgardMeadery. For our macrame products, please visit facebook @GettingKnotty

Our header picture (above) provides a view from the mountain that backs our farm and our farm would be where the page text is if the photograph did not have its limitations. Its view looks across the road from the farm and you can't see the farm from the road unless you drive or walk in the 800 foot lane. If you visit in the fall, you can see our mountain from the farm as in the picture below. This is our back yard.
